Public Speaking Quote [9] – Albert Einstein

“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT’S relativity.”
- Albert Einstein

Okay, this may be a stretch, but there is a link to public speaking fear and this quote by Einstein.

The point of the quote is that when you enjoy something, time can seem to pass very quickly. Try to remember a time when you were having so much fun that there was no concept of time. You were just enjoying what you were doing and time didn’t matter. Now try to remember when you didn’t like doing something. Time seems to drag, or even feel like it was going backwards.

The point of relativity, in this case, is that if you can start to enjoy something that you previous disliked, time can seem to go by quickly while you’re doing it. The same is true for public speaking. If you can learn to enjoy the experience, getting up in front of crowd will not seem so daunting and it could feel like time just flies by.

Enjoy the experience!
